How can I grow my small business and become successful? That’s the question all small business entrepreneurs have when they step into the ‘contract world’. For the past couple of years, I have been giving you ideas, tips and paths you can take to make your goals achievable.

And today, I’m going to present you with real life examples. Let’s start with Remy Jules who I met a little less than a year ago. He saw an opportunity to position himself to do business with the number one purchaser of business products and services in the world and I showed him exactly how to seal the deal! This is the story of how he became successful in three weeks!

How Can You Become Successful in Less Time?

This is how Remy did it.

“I am a 35-year-old small business entrepreneur who lives in Texas. I have always had a calling for entrepreneurship and have gifts in web design and digital marketing. I am a Google-certified digital marketer. And I always wanted to take things to the next level. I was tired of doing things on a local level.

And it all changed for me when I heard about government contracts. I heard they pay big bucks with solid contracts. The thing is, I heard these but wasn’t really listening and taking these in.”

Remy found out about his opportunities in March, 2022 and then he took classes, assessed from there and in three weeks a construction company reached him! Three weeks is all it took for Remy to put himself on the map. And this construction company offered him to work with them full-time, although he wasn’t even certified yet. This is how you will be treated if you are really passionate about what you do. Opportunities will find their way to you! One contact can make you gain access to many more connections and thereon build your network. But there’s no rule that you have to stick to just the domain. You can pivot. That’s exactly what Remy did.

Since Remy lived in Texas, a tech-based city and as a lot of these companies were expanding their campuses, there should be construction sites and therefore, drone photography for the progress of the construction, which is exactly what Remy does. His journey quickly escalated from there!

When Karwanna taught me how to position myself, what I’m capable of, things that I can actually produce and what I’ve been producing, it just really made sense… I really thank Karwanna for that!

Right now, Remy has expanded his business and is working on affordable housing all over the U.S.

When it comes to possibilities, government contracts are a real gem. You’ve got state level, county level and city level. And you can start wherever you think will provide you with the highest profit and exposure, and say YES to what’s coming your way!

So, if you are a small business figuring out a way to pay your bills and uplift your quality of life, it’s already here and it’s called government contracts (I can’t stress this enough!).

In 2022, the U.S. federal government spent over 10 trillion dollars on business products and services and 26% (2.6 trillion dollars) of it was obligated to be spent for small businesses. Did you get your piece?

Understanding these three things will get you your piece.

  • Business foundation

Do you remember the three little pigs? When the big bad wolf came and blew, the houses made out of straws and sticks collapsed. But the one made out with bricks still stood. It’s a solid foundation which is always wise. When we compare this to the real world, during the pandemic, businesses without a solid foundation crashed. Having the perfect business foundation allows you to attract government contracts.

  • Certification

20% of small businesses fail by the first year, 30% by the second year, 50% by the fifth year and 70% by the 10th year. My first contract got through to me not because I’m the best photographer out there or because I was smart enough. It came to me because I was CERTIFIED! It gives you the chance to skip the line. It’s a lot of paperwork, yes, but if you want to have what others don’t, you have to go through that.

  • Proposals

According to the SBA, small businesses employ 57 million workers. It’s not only about paying your bills. It’s also about the opportunities you create for others as a business. This way, the government will invest more in you because you are a future employer and you are a valuable entity to the government.

*A business under 500 employees is considered a small business

These three keys will take your business to the next level and stimulate your engagement in the local economy.
